Investigation of the Phonatory Mechanism*
نویسنده
چکیده
A rational approach toward the development of improved techniques for the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and correction of vocal pathologies rests on an improved understanding of voice mechanisms. To achieve these goals, we need to better understand the dimensions of phonatory performance and their dependence both on the state of laryngeal structures and on patterns of control. Because of the inaccessible location of the larynx, few direct measurements of this performance are possible. Quanti tative mathematical modeling is a useful vehicle for studying laryngeal vocal function. Continuation and ex tension of excised-larynx and animal studies can provide detailed data in support of the development and testing of these models. Human experiments, in vivo, aimed at factoring out the phonatory consequences of variations in individual laryngeal control parameters are suggested as a means of further extending such studies.

Phonatory Dysfunction as a Preclinical Symptom of Huntington Disease
PURPOSE Although dysphonia has been shown to be a common sign of Huntington disease (HD), the extent of phonatory dysfunction in gene positive premanifest HD individuals remains unknown. The aim of the current study was to explore the possible occurrence of phonatory abnormalities in prodromal HD. METHOD Sustained vowel phonations were acquired from 28 premanifest HD individuals and 28 health...
متن کاملThe investigation of pyrocatechol electrochemical mechanism in presence of nitrite ion on platinum electrode
In this study, the electrochemical mechanism of catechol in presence and absence of nitrite ion, is investigated in phosphate buffer medium (pH=7) using platinum electrode through cyclic voltammetry method in various scan rates. Electrochemical oxidation of catechol showed how quinone has changed to o-benzoquinone and also how o-benzoquinone has reacted with nitrite ion and potential scan rate ...
متن کاملGlottography, the electrophysiological investigation of phonatory biomechanics.
Some details of phonatory biomechanics, meaning the vibratory movements of the vocal folds during phonation, are described in the introduction. Here a special emphasis is laid on the multicomponent structure of the vocal folds. Glottography is a general term used for methods to monitor the vibrations of the vocal folds. Four different types of glottography are generally recognized (fig. 2), viz...
متن کاملCyclic Voltammetry Investigation of the Mechanism of CuInSe2 and CuIn(Al)Se2 Electrodeposition from Aqueous Solution
Electrodeposition of CuInSe2 (CIS) and CuInAlSe2 (CIAS) from aqueous solution has been systematically investigated by cyclic voltammetery implementing different scan rates. It has been shown that electrodeposited CIS and CIAS have been formed on the substrate through electrochemical-chemical interaction of reduces species on the substrate. From the obtained results, it could be inferred that I...
متن کاملInvestigation on Mechanism of Cordierite Formation from Nano Silica-Magnesium chloride-Reactive Alumina
Cordierite ceramics are used as refractory materials and kiln furnaces tools due to their very low coefficient of thermal expansion, high corrosion resistance and excellent thermal shock resistance. The aim of the present work was to synthesis of cordierite with raw materials including nano silica, magnesium chloride and reactive alumina. The synthesis procedure is done at solid state. Mechanis...
